Beastly Mage
Obito Uchiha
Today's card is one that's being used in Mill Decks.
Why? It's simple. When you put him in play you can
pay either two Wind or two Fire (the effects
aren't cumulative) to get a different effect. If you
pay the two Wind you pick out one Ninja, remove it
from play, and then put it back into its owner's
village at the end of the turn. That effect is good,
but the effect that's getting him included in Fire
Mill decks is the one you get when you pay two Fire.
When you do that your opponent moves the top five
cards of the deck to the Discard Pile. When that
happens, if any Jutsu cards are discarded this way
then Obito gets a Growth Coin for each one. So,
discard five Jutsus = get five Growth Coins.
Pretty awesome if you ask me.
He doesn't have growth, which means you don't get to
abuse his effect should the opportunity arise. That
balances him out well. Try it and see!
Today's review starts off with dual support for
Wind/Fire decks. This Obito is turn 3 and a bad 2/0
healthy and decent 5/2 injured. Also he has
Sharingan Eye. Sharingan Eye lets him perform Jutsu
like Amaterasu (which injures and makes your
opponent mill as long as the injured ninja lives!)
and Sharingan Eye (which negates jutsu and has a
bonus effect of discarding 2 chakra from your
opponent if paid with a Water Symbol).
Obito has 2 put in play effects but only one can be
activated. Paying 2 Fire will make your opponent
mill 5 and for any jutsu milled, Obito gets a Growth
coin. Not too shabby I'd say, especially since it
combos with Pakkun (which will result in LOTS of
milled cards). The second effect is, by paying 2
Wind, remove a ninja your opponent control until the
end of the turn. This is handy if they have a pesky
ninja that is getting in your way (like [Excellent
Tactician Temari]).
Block: 3/5 (potential with Pakkun!)
