Hello Pojo Fans,

Naturia Beast was one of my favorite Synchro monsters, and is our Throwback Thursday choice.

While not generic, there are more EARTH Tuner monsters and EARTH-based strategy monsters nowadays to use Naturia Beast with. Glow-Up and a Level 4 EARTH will give you a Spell-negating machine and potential win condition against many meta decks (Sky Striker, True Draco). Good stats for a Level 5 and the effect can be activate multiple times in a chain, and can be activated as long as you have the two cards to mill. I would always go for Beast & Barkion turn 0 if possible in my Six Samurai build and attempt to cripple the opponent. I’d be more pressed to lead off with just Beast now with Kaiju monsters being a thing.

Naturia Beast is still a viable option for Extra Deck use and if you can make him consistently within your strategy I’d suggest giving him a thought. As previously stated: certain decks die easily to him.

Throwback Thursday brings us a card that decks that use EARTH monsters will try to naturally fit an EARTH Tuner into just to make this because it’s so good, Naturia Beast.

Naturia Beast is a Level 5 EARTH Beast Synchro with 2200 ATK and 1700 DEF. Stats work for a Level 5 Synchro, even though you could argue it could use more since it isn’t generic, EARTH is a nice attribute, and Beast is a type that gets some love every once in a while. The summoning requirements are any 1 EARTH Tuner and any 1+ EARTH non-Tuners, which is easy in EARTH decks and some of said EARTH decks that don’t have an inherent Tuner can find ways to fit one in. Naturia Beast has an effect where when a Spell Card is activated (Quick Effect): you can send the top two cards from your deck to the graveyard to negate said Spell and destroy it, but Naturia Beast must be face-up on the field to activate and resolve this effect. Spell negation that isn’t a hard once per turn is appreciated, enough to the point where this is why Naturia Beast is always forced into decks someway somehow when they have EARTH monsters, I know Performage decks of 2016 used that Level 1 X-Saber Reptile Tuner since it was searchable off King of the Feral Imps and they had Hat Tricker, which shows how much players are willing to go to in order to summon this. It must be face-up to negate the Spell, meaning a Ghost Ogre can negate this basically, but most of the time you shouldn’t have to worry about this thing getting destroyed. Naturia Beast is a great Synchro for every EARTH deck out there and if you can somehow fit an EARTH Tuner into the deck, assuming there isn’t one naturally in your archetype or whatever, then Naturia Beast is a must because Spells are so good.

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 4/5 A relaxed beast, Naturia Beast and Barkion might have the best arts of the Naturia, which is fitting since they’re the two best ones.

Throwback Thursday treats us to a card we haven’t reviewed, although we did a Naturia week several years ago, and a few more of them at random, the Beast never came about.  Level 5 Synchro, Earth, Beast (who saw that coming), with 2200 attack and 1700 defense (meh) and needing an Earth Tuner and one or more non-Tuner Earth Monster for a Synchro Summon.

Attached is a Quick effect, in the form of Magic negation, where when a Magic card is activate, you can send the top two cards of your Deck to your Graveyard to negate the activation of said Magic card.  If you do, it’s destroyed.  Now, two important notes here, Naturia Beast has to be face-up on the Field to activate and resolve, which could be troublesome occasionally.  But that’s not the part I’m most interested in.

The part that is awesome about this effect is, it doesn’t have the ‘once per turn’ clause.  So long as you have the cards to discard (and assuming it stays face-up for resolution) you can negate Magic cards all day long friends.  This card shines (obviously) in whatever Naturia version theme you may play, but if you have enough Earth Monsters in an Earth variant to play this, you definitely should too.  Magic negation is powerful!

Art:  4.5/5  Clearly a Tiger of sorts, going through a metamorphosis with a near full wooden group of legs, as well as other branches, and the green skin and background, complimenting each other off light and dark is very awesome
