Techo Master
Hero | Techo | Light
Strength 15 | Agility 20 | Magic 9 | Intelligence 15
"To play this, tap one of your Light Neopets.
While this Hero is in play, each of your Neopets
gets +3 to all stats."
First things first, this guy is a Hero. Heroes have
to appease an automatic prerequisite if they wish to
be good: They need a hard-hitting, powerful,
destructive effect, and should have quite good
stats. If they don't meet this, they don't get
played. Techo Master, somewhat unfortunately,
doesn't meet this prerequisite.
As a Light Hero, it does has plenty of support.
Lisha's Wand, the only card that would possibly be
able to get this card going in a worthwhile way, is
a Light card. The other Techos in the set are Light,
with Techo Fisherman being a Light Water. There
aren't a whole ton of Light villains, but you could
splash this with some Dark, I suppose. Stats-wise, I
would only -ONLY- play this in Agility. Its best
stat resides there at a hefty 20, which is beatable.
Its Strength and Intelligence stats are averag-at-best
at 15, and its Magic stat is a puny 9, which will
barely stand up to some Basic Neopets.
But the effect is the reason why anyone would play
this, for no one plays Heroes for their stats alone
(see The Castle Defender). The effect of this is
that of a Wooden Nimmo Totem, which can stay in
effect much longer if equipped with Lisha's Wand.
But really, who wants a tiny boost of +3 if you need
to fill all those spots with Techo Masters and
Lisha's Wands?
Personally, I would prefer to use Island Angelpuss,
or even Robot Noil (and you all know I don't like
Robot Noil...see my review of it on COTD!).
2/5 - I really don't like this Hero, and for quite
good reason. Perhaps if he gave himself the boost as
well. However, being a Hero, he doesn't get a Neopet
boost. Use this only in the harcore Techo deck,
which may or may not be worth trying. It could
possibly be comboed with Lisha, although even then
it is substandard at best.
