Kanrik's Blade
Equipment/Weapon/Dark
2/0/0/2
To play this, tap one of your Dark Neopets. When
this Neopet or Hero wins a contest on your turn, you
may discard this Equipment to choose one of its
rivals and discard it.
2 Bank Points
Hannah and the Ice Caves 43/150 Rare
Rating: 4.5
This is Equipment is one of the best of the Hannah
and the Ice Caves expansion. Giving a +2 in strength
and intelligence, it's a great addition to any
Grarrl/Korbat or Dark deck. But the +2 is
insignificant when you look at the Blade's ability.
When you win a contest on your turn, you discard
Kanrik's Blade to discard one of your rivals. Now
THAT's destructive power! Normally we only see bank
or board destruction in Fire cards, but this is a
better option for Dark/Air decks. If you pair this
card up with a Battle JubJub (you tap him to attach
an Equipment from your discard pile), you can keep
destroying your opponent's. Again and again and
again!
Kanrik's Blade is a board destruction powerhouse for
Dark. Expect to see this card in pretty much any
Dark deck.

Bank: 2
Kanrik has come out in the Neopian world as the
mastermind type, one who is cunning and ruthless,
willing to go to great lengths for power.
Personally, I see him turning on Galem, but that is
for another time in another place.
He is, without a doubt, one of my favorite Neopian
characters I've seen in quite some time. But on to
the review...
As a Dark Equipment card, it fits into many decks,
flourishing mainly, I think, in a Graarl
Gladiator-based deck. Its boosts to Strength and
Intelligence are sub-par, and it comes with a small
bank of 2. Not exactly gourmet.
Its effect, on the other hand, seems excellent at
first glance. You get to discard this when you WIN a
contest to discard one of your Neopets' rivals.
(I would assume Basic Neopets are returned to the
bottom of the Basic Neopets stack, even though it
isn't written on the card text.) However, the
requirements for this card balance out its effect
quite nicely, creating a just-better-than mediochre
card. For one draw, a tap (of a Dark), a contest win
(this must be in the contest) and discarding this,
you can choose a pesky rival and have them removed.
3/5 - Seems a little tough to have a Neopet
discarded, although it will turn out to be highly
effective if you manage it. This could prove deadly
against a decked-out Draik Soldier, though.
