To play this, you need a Fire Neopet. When you play this card, choose one of your Neopets and roll a die. If you roll a 1, discard that Neopet. (A Basic Neopet that's discarded is put on the bottom if its owner's Neopet stack.) Repeat this for each of your other Neopets (one at a time). Then your opponent does the same for each of his or her Neopets (one at a time). When this Villain loses a contest, untap all of its rivals.

Moltenus fits perfectly into the chaotic destruction that was unleashed with the Mystery Island expansion. The only downside, is like so many of the others, it's entirely luck based, and is just as likely to harm you as to hurt you. But, since you only lose a pet if you roll a one, only an average of one pet will get removed from the field each time Moltenus is played. If more pets were removed on average, there would be a few combos to use. But it's hard to plan around an effect that is so unpredictable. In addition to it's haphazard destruction effect, Moltenus also allows rivals to untap.
On the upside, Moltenus shares the highest Villain Strength with Blugthak at 22. However, if you're willing to drop down one point to 21, you'll find S950 Kreludan Defender a more useful, reliable Villain.

He's got the stat in Strength, but is weak everywhere else, including it's effect. As much as I like to see some destruction in cards, I don't like playing things that are so unreliable, and just as likely to hurt me as my opponent. 2.1 of 5.
