emdman - Grarrl Gladiator vs. Battle Eyrie 1.28.04 Before I start writing this document, I would like to say that I completely did this by hand, so it might be off by a number or two. If there is a mistake, please let me know. Also, the art of dice rolling is based completely on luck, so this research may not be completely accurate. The Purpose The reason why I did this was because Grarrl Gladiator seems to be a very popular card. This is because not only does it have an incredible strength, but it also has a special ability that allows him to call an instant victory from rolling a 5. I wanted to know if there is an equally good, if not better, Neopet to play out there. I could think of only one Neopet that could possibly take the Gladiator off his throne, the Battle Eyrie. The reason why I choose the Battle Eyrie is because he can let you roll TWO dice. This means not only does he get a good stat boost from the dice, but he also has a better chance of getting a 6. Plus he is good in the Strength and Agility arenas, something that the Gladiator could only dream about. The Experiment I have decided to roll the dice 100 times for each pet according to their rules, in this case I’ll have to roll 2 dice for Battle Eyrie, and get an instant win from a 5 for Grarrl Gladiator. I am rolling the dice 100 times so that it will be easier to put the dice rolls into percentages (one dice roll = one percent). Let’s start off with the Battle Eyrie. Since it can roll two dice, it will be impossible to roll a one. Its highest dice roll without rolling a 6 on either die will have to be 10 (two fives). Because of this, the chart will begin with 2 and end at 10, and X will represent the times I rolled an instant win. Battle Eyrie’s Test Results: 2 = 2% 3 = 8% 4 = 8% 5 = 15% 6 = 15% 7 = 11% 8 = 3% 9 = 6% 10 = 4% X = 28% So as you can see, Battle Eyrie has a great chance of rolling an instant win, if not a 5, 6, or 7. This might prove that Battle Eyrie might be indeed be better than Grarrl Gladiator, but the battle has just begun, because it’s now Grarrl Gladiator’s turn. Grarrl Gladiator seems to be the favorite among most people. But here’s the big question, is he worth it. I mean sure, he has the ridiculous strength and the awesome effect, but he’s pretty lame in every other arena. In fact, you’d probably be in a lot of trouble when you have to move your Gladiator to another arena. Since Grarrl Gladiator gets an instant win from a 5 or a 6, the test results will only go from 1 to 4 and then X, which will represent the instant wins. Grarrl Gladiator’s Test Results: 1 = 11% 2 = 11% 3 = 15% 4 = 15% X = 47% Now according to this chart, Grarrl Gladiator almost has a coin-toss chance of getting an instant win! Of course this would probably make Grarrl Gladiator the better Neopet, but there are other things that could go wrong, as I will mention right now. Strategy Dice rolling isn’t going to cut it. Everybody knows that strategy is also to the key to victory. Eyrie has the upper hand when it comes to this, since he is also good in the Agility arena. So if for some reason you want to get your Battle Eyrie out of the Strength arena, you have the Agility arena to look forward to. Here are a couple of things Battle Eyrie and Grarrl Gladiator can use to become even more evil. Night Stone – A night stone on either the Eyrie or the Grarrl can prove devastating to your opponent, since it will practically reduce his/her chances by half, especially if it means having one of those deadly effects. This could also prove deadly to Eyrie and Grarrl themselves if your opponent a Night Stone too, so watch out. Spyder – This is best equipped with Battle Eyrie, since he has a second chance of rolling a 6. Not letting your opponents untap one of your pets can prove hard for your opponent. Your opponent won’t be able to tap your pet to start contests or bring out heroes and equipment. The Conclusion Choosing between Battle Eyrie and Grarrl Gladiator is very difficult because they have their strengths and weaknesses. The best answer would be to choose which one better suits you. If you’re into strategy, I would suggest the Battle Eyrie. But if you want brute force, go for Grarrl Gladiator. Here are the test results in detail.
