WizKids’ Pirates of the Spanish Main
Reigned At Origins
July 9, 2004 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc.,
makers of the best-selling HeroClix® and MLB™
SportsClix™ collectable miniatures games
(CMGs), reports that their Pirates of the
Spanish Main game was the runaway hit of the
2004 Origins gaming convention.
“We sold through our entire stock of Pirates
of the Spanish Main, even though we limited
the number of game packs people could buy,”
said Jordan Weisman, WizKids CEO. “Our demo
tables were constantly full, with people
lining up for a chance to get the Revenge
promotional ship. Everywhere you looked,
people were playing pickup games of
Pirates.”
“People were doing the demos, and then
rushing to see how quickly they could line
up to buy it,” said Marc Grossman, a new
Pirates player. “It was absolutely amazing
to watch.”
The Pirates of the Spanish Main game,
WizKids’ first Constructible Strategy Game,
is due to release July 28, 2004.
Learn more about Pirates of the Spanish Main
online at wizkidsgames.com/pirates/. The
game will be fully supported by WizKids’
Approved Play system with in-store leagues
beginning in September.

Spider-Man 2
Runs on: PS2, Xbox and Gamecube
Spider-Man 2 has achieved the near
impossible, including every one of this
super-acrobat's vast library of moves,
without needing four hands and two
controllers to manage it.
Finally we now have true web-slinging, as
you must attach Spidy's web to various
landmarks and buildings to swing through the
city. You'll spend the first few hours
flying through the air with a grin spread
wide across your face, mastering this
impressive feat. Wall running, double web
jumps and flips are all executed in a manner
that would make our favourite mutant
arachnid proud.

Nintendo cautious on PS3 announcement,
Revolution prepares for war
In the wake of Sony's confirmation that
PlayStation 3 will be shown in some form at
E3 next year, Nintendo Europe has reaffirmed
that its Revolution console - first
mentioned at E3 in May past - will be
"discussed" in greater depth at the LA event
in 2005 and will be released in a timely
fashion to compete with PlayStation 3 and
Xbox 2.
"In terms of PlayStation 3, 'exhibited at
E3' and 'coming to market' are two very
different things," said Nintendo Europe's
head of PR, Shelly Pearce today. "What we've
always said is that we'll be releasing
Revolution in the same timeframe as the
others. What that timeframe will be is very
up in the air at this point."
