According to industry analysts the NPD Group, interactive diversions based on branded properties account for over $7.8 billion, or 57 percent, of total sales of entertainment software for portable and next-generation systems. Recent drops in hardware prices--both Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation 2 both fell to a $149.99 SRP as of May--continue to spur interest in the category as well.

Nintendo Rocks with Fusion Tour

The hottest rock acts and videogame technology are coming together for the second Nintendo Fusion tour.

The 37-date outing -- which kicks off Sept. 20 in Odessa, Texas -- features headliners Story of the Year, plus lostprophets, My Chemical Romance, Letter Kills, Anberlin and Autopilot Off. Tickets will be less than $20 at most stops.

The lobby of each venue will have kiosks featuring previews of upcoming Nintendo GameCube games and the new wireless, hand-held videogame system Nintendo DS. Full Story


UK Charts: SCi wins Vietnam battle as new Conflict title debuts on top
Best-ever first week for Pivotal's Conflict series

British publisher SCi has emerged as the victor in the battle of the Vietnam-themed titles at UK retail last week, as Conflict: Vietnam took the top spot in the charts ahead of Eidos' Shellshock: Nam '67.

Conflict: Vietnam enjoyed the strongest first-week debut ever for a title in the Conflict series on PS2, with sales of that SKU of the game accounting for some 63 per cent of sales of the Pivotal Games developed title. Full Story

Huge Update on WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw For PS2; More

I can reveal, that the new match type on this years WWE SmackDown game, will be The Parking Lot Brawl. This will be the only new match type for this year.

Also, THQ confirmed the following superstars for the game:

John Cena, Randy Orton, Booker T, Ric Flair, Batista, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Rico, and Charlie Haas.
