Hello Pojo Fans,

Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech is our Throwback Thursday choice and one of the old school Rank 5 monsters.

Generic materials for a standard Rank 5 in terms of the stats, Machu Mech works best with the other Chronomaly monsters that can drop the opponents ATK. Detach to inflict damage to LP equal to difference in a selected monster’s ATK, then Machu Mech gains it. Alongside Number 36: Chronomaly Chateau Huyuk you can make an opponent’s monster’s ATK 0 with Huyuk and then deal all of that monster’s ATK to your opponent’s LP, and then your Machu Mech will gain that and do its base 2400 plus whatever remains in attacking your opponent’s monster. Cabrera Trebuchet can help by tributing another Chronomaly monster to do what Huyuk does, Tuspa Rocket can Foolish Burial a Chronomaly monster to drop ATK by the Level/Rank. Chronomaly only have two Main Deck monsters that can drop ATK, so they will need to balance relying on other Xyz monsters to do the ATK drop in addition to the two Main Deck ones.

No negation or destruction power to its name, but Machu Mech can pile on some damage when used in conjunction with the other archetype monsters.

Throwback Thursday brings us to the classic Chronomaly boss you used to pull easy OTKs, Number 33: Chronomaly Machu Mech.

Machu Mech is a Rank 5 LIGHT Machine Xyz with 2400 ATK and 1500 DEF. Fine Rank 5 stats, LIGHT and Machine are great to have as well. 2 Level 5s summons this, which is easy enough. Anyways, once per turn, you get to detach a material from this card to target a face-up monster the opponent controls with ATK that differs from its original ATK to then burn the opponent for the difference between said monster’s original and current ATK, then this card gains ATK equal to the damage dealt. Overall, target a monster that went from 2800 to 0 ATK (likely off Number 36: Chronomaly Chateau Huyuk) and you can burn for 2800 damage and then have a 5200 ATK monster to run into that 0 ATK monster and get an OTK. Another option besides Chateau Huyuk is Mini-Guts to sacrifice a different monster to make an opponent’s monster 0 ATK, which wouldn’t have to be 2800 ATK exactly since the monster destroyed in battle that was affected by Mini-Guts would then let you burn for the original ATK. Overall, Machu Mech OTKs are fun, but not the most reliable thing in the world. Still, it’s worth having Number 33 on the side in case you can pull the Machu Mech OTK off, especially if you want to play Mini-Guts to try and dedicate your strategy to said OTK.

(In my Quiksilver voice) You didn’t see this coming?

Throwback Thursday, appropriately, gives us Number 33:  Chronomaly Machu Mech.  Light/Machine, Jinzo atk/def, and two generic Level 5s needed for an XYZ Summon.  This is definitely a fun card, and having a Burn Effect that you do (and don’t) have control over makes it more fun.  You can Target a card that has its original attack changed and your opponent takes the difference in Damage…all while this guy gets the difference added to his own attack.  There’s ways to work this with your cards in the Theme, but there’s plenty of Monsters out there too (and other cards, of course) that your opponent is likely playing that can change its attack all on their own, and you can still work this with that (and play with and into it yourself).  It might not be the most consistent of cards, but it’s one that you have to be smart enough with to be able to take the most advantage of, and I like that.  A lot.
