Ogdoadic Water Lily – #ANGU-EN010

Send 1 Reptile monster from your Deck to the GY, then if you have 5 or more Reptile monsters with different names in your GY, you can Special Summon 1 Reptile monster from your GY. You can only activate 1 “Ogdoadic Water Lily” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Ogdoadic Water Lily is a Foolish Burial and Monster Reborn all in one…at least, it can be.

Foolish Burial from the start for Reptile monsters only, perfect for the archetype and setting up your graveyard, as well as getting anything that activates in the graveyard to trigger. If you have five or more Reptiles however, you get a free Special Summon of a Reptile from your grave, which is even better. Nothing beats dropping a huge monster into the grave only for it to come back the same turn. The big Level 8 monsters within the archetype require at least one tribute to Special Summon from the grave via their effect, Water Lily gets around that and saves your Reptile monsters for other effects to be used for tribute. Snake Rain can facilitate this card all on its own, discarding a Reptile to throw four more Reptile monsters into the graveyard.

Not much else to say about this card. It does everything the archetype wants it to do and can do it easily and without cost. Run three if you play the deck.

Now we have the lone good Spell/Trap to search with Nayua, Ogdoadic Water Lily.

Water Lily is a Normal Spell that lets you send any Reptile from the Deck to the graveyard, then if you have 5 or more Reptiles with different names in the graveyard, you can revive any Reptile from the graveyard. Pretty generic overall. At the very least, having the Foolish Burial for the type can be helpful for future Reptile archetypes, and the revive should be achievable with Snake Rain. Any archetypal Foolish Burial and potential Monster Reborn is good, especially when searchable. For now it’s really only good in Ogdoadic variants, but hopefully Konami isn’t done with Reptiles as a type.

Midweek brings us to Odgoadic Water Lily, a Normal Magic card.  So this is a simple enough card that rewards a player for having many Reptiles in their Grave.  You discard any 1 Reptile from your Deck to your Grave and get to Special Summon one of your choice (still from your Grave, even the one you dumped, if you desire) so long as you have 5 or more differently named Reptiles in your Grave.  This isn’t going to always work, but it should work well in the Theme, more often than not.  Really, I feel unless you get this early game, your first couple of terms, you should always get the Special Summon accompanying this card.  There may be times you just need to dump, and you can, but I can’t see an emergency where you need to use it so badly you’ll dump and just miss out on your Special Summon.  It is still a -1, note, even if you get the Special Summon, as you give up a Discard and this card while only getting the 1 Monster to your Field.  But still a card that fits alright in the Theme.
