Hello Pojo Fans,

Palladium Oracle Mana is one heck of a way to start off the week of special art cards.

Same stats as DMG, and much like Mahad, she is a way to summon her next form. The Special Summon effect off a targeting effect is a way to keep field presence and make it easier to get this girl on the field. The added ability to summon it this way from the grave is an added bonus. There isn’t a limit to this effect going off in the duel, so multiple uses of this card can be possible. Spellcaster card effect destruction protection across the board for Level 7 and higher casters is something they’ve needed. Mana is like an Eternal Soul for those high level casters. Her replacement effect off any kind of destruction is identical to Mahad, but with Mahad you can combo it with Dark Magicial Circle to banish, while you can’t off DMG. When destroyed in any fashion she acts like Mahad and Special Summons her next form from anywhere but banished. While this wasn’t as handy before as using Mahad, the new support to make DMG a part of a dedicated DM deck something to consider.

With her protection for higher level spellcasters and special summon ability more than once are great, but I don’t think she is better than Apprentice Illusion Magician. That doesn’t make her a good card, it is just about how you run a Spellcaster/DM deck.

Several OCG Imports and a few TCG Imports as Tin Promos has prompted me to review these cards, as they are all very interesting as we start with Palladium Oracle Mana.

Mana is a Level 6 LIGHT Spellcaster with 2000 ATK and 1700 DEF. Dark Magician Girl stats aren’t the most impressive on a 6 star monster, LIGHT is a great attribute, and I like Spellcaster. The main problem with this being a LIGHT Spellcaster though is that you’re likely playing this in Dark Magician builds, meaning you can’t summon it off Magician Navigation since it isn’t DARK. That’s something important I felt I should note, and it kinda stings, but it’s fine. When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets 1 Spellcaster you control and no other cards while this card is in the hand or graveyard, you can Special Summon this card. Free monsters are always something I like, even if the activation requirement seems a bit strange. It’s a quick effect at least, but also a hard once per turn. Level 7 or higher Spellcaster monsters cannot be destroyed by card effects, so it offers free protection from destruction, which might of happened to the Spellcaster that was targeted before this summoned, but chances are that targeting effect might not destroy your monster. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect, no specification as to where or how, you can Special Summon a Dark Magician Girl from the hand, deck, or graveyard. If Bond Between Teacher and Student didn’t exist, I’d say pass on DMG, but it does so you’ll likely have one of it in your deck, so this will have something to summon. If it was a DARK Spellcaster, I’d call this a near staple in the Dark Magician deck, but for some reason it’s LIGHT. I’d say having a copy or two could still be worth it, though. Other Spellcaster decks could use this as well. The card is decent at least for Rank 6 fodder (still need Magi Magi Magician Gal from the OCG, it’s been over 7 years).

Art: 5/5 It’s ancient Tea and Ankuriboh, it looks amazing.

I’m excited for this week, honestly, these are cards I would have chosen if I had been picking this week (whenever it happened to fall).  Here we have another Mana variant, all spawning from Dark Magician Girl originally, but anyway…Palladium Oracle Mana has the same stats, and all that good stuff, but has the distinction of being Light as opposed to Dark.

She can be Special Summoned from your Hand or Graveyard (good) when your opponent activates a card or effect (also good) that targets one Spellcaster you control (a little specific, but still possible)…this is a Quick Effect, and can only be done once per turn.  Special Summons are a good thing, the versatility of where she can come from is even better in this case…but your opponent likely won’t care, or just play around it.

As appropriate for Mana, she protects Dark Magician (as well as Level 7 and above Spellcasters) from destruction by card effects.  This is good, and it would have been too much I assume had she been able to protect from battle destruction as well.  But all effect destruction is still good in my eyes.  Finally, if destroyed in Battle, you get a DMG Special Summoned from your Hand, Deck, or Graveyard.  That’s good too…

BUT, with so many variants of DMG, and Mana, and so many better than the original DMG, despite all her support and synergy with Dark Magician, the Deck, in whatever variant form you’re running might just be too crowded.  Not a bad card, by any means, but not a GREAT card either.

Art:  5/5  Absolutely love this.  The colors in the back are very sandy and that reminds me of Egypt, which I enjoy.  And I feel this is supposed to be Egyptian Tea?
