Text:
“The
Star of Siam had just raided an American ship
leaving the Barbary Coast for the Americas when
Wesley captured her, claiming the ship and her
swollen cargo holds for himself.”
Another speedy Galley Super-Rare, the
Star of Siam is actually somewhat playable at this
point in the game. Not for her cannons, but rather
she’s awfully speedy, with 3S movement before ANY
modifiers. Really, all she needs is an explorer and
she’s a pretty fast treasure hauler. Her cannons
won’t really be much of a deterrant to any opponent,
but at least she has the ability to move without any
masts. And at 8 points she can fit in almost any
fleet. Of all the Super-Rare pieces in the preview
pack, Star of Siam is the definite winner in terms
of sheer playability.

Once again, a big winner as far as
collectability, because of that Super-Rare rarity.
If you break down the average value of all four
items in the super-rare pack you get the following:
Piece Name |
Average |
Star of Siam |
$10.43 |
Asp |
$10.41 |
Wesley |
$12.37 |
Chainshot Specialist
|
$5.00 |
Total Average Value |
$38.21 |
There are three closed auctions for
the full pack, and they average at $28.88, so
obviously your best bet if you want these super-rares
is to purchase the full pack.
My Ratings
Playability 4 of 5
Collectability 5 of 5
Next time – Well, we’ve done two
full weeks of Pirates, and not much of anything
else. It’s IM Einstein’s picks, and he hasn’t
made them yet.
