Pirates of the Revolution – HMS
Dreadnought - #025
Name: HMS Dreadnought
Set: POR
Card #: 026
Type: Ship
Cost: 26 Points
Masts: 5
Cannons: 3L, 3L, 3L, 3L, 3L
Cargo: 5
Movement: 1S
Faction: English
Ability:
This ship's cannons may not be eliminated (masts
still may be). If derelict, she cannot shoot.
Flavor Text:
“The Spanish could not
defeat her. The French also tried, and failed. Now,
the Dreadnought's crew looks forward to continuing
its winning streak in conflicts against the American
colonists. “
The English got a BIG upgrade in
firepower in Revolution with the release of this
ship. However, she’s MIGHTY expensive, and you
don’t exactly get your money’s worth. She needs
upgrades before she’ll be of any use to you. Not
ever losing any cannons is a fantastic, and
obviously expensive ability, but you’ll only have a
50% chance of hitting each turn. Chaining crew with
+1 abilities to cannon rolls seems like a
no-brainer. Of course a Helmsman is a must too,
with just a starting S move. With only 5 cargo
spots, you’ll have to pick your crew carefully to
maximize your upgrades, and you’ll STILL be
susceptible to Mermaids. My final assessment is
that she’s a great ship, but she’s over-priced and
her stats don’t hold up to scrutiny.
HMS Dreadnought (026) Completed
Auction Review – 7-21-05
# of completed Auctions: 16
High Amount: $9.95
Low Amount: $1.25
Average Amount $4.94
Lots of completed auctions to look
at, which is a good sign. She’s also pretty decent
values, but not overwhelming. Sure she’s a 5
master, and thus pretty hard to pull, but she’s not
the must-have ship for every English fleet (That’s
the Titan)
My Ratings
Playability 3 of 5
Collectability 3 of 5
