Masts: 4

Cargo: 6

Cannons 3S, 3S, 3S, 3S

Ability: “Schooner. One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island.

Flavor Text: “With her gilded hull and polished cannons, La Santa Isabel is a throwback to the days when Spain ruled the seas. Now, she is reduced to trading between the colonies and Spain.”

Hard-core Spanish players are really ticked off at WizKids right about now.  Why?  Players are mad because in the latest expansion, Pirates of the Revolution, the Spanish got the shaft.  In a full expansion, the Spanish got only FOUR new ships, ONE new named crew, and ONE new fort.  Of course, they were well represented in the first two expansions, and if you look at the total numbers of ships per faction, the Spanish are right at the same place that every other faction is at, with the exception of Pirates, who have about twice as many choices available to them.

So most Spanish players are really worried that the Spanish will get hosed again in the upcoming Barbary Coast set, but I don’t think we have much to worry about.  The backlash from this set has been pretty strong, so for the next set I would imagine that the English would get the short end of the stick.  This is just my speculation though.

This week I thought we’d look at some Spanish pieces, but I wanted to mix it up a little.  We’ll look at one piece from each set, AND they won’t all be rares either.  The nice thing about this game is that even the common and uncommon pieces are game worthy.  Today’s vessel is the “La Santa Isabella”, which is somewhat near and dear to my heart, as she shares her name with my wife’s six-month-old kitten (who we also call “Psycho and Crack Baby, though that’s a story for another time).  She’s definitely a treasure hauler; because each time she pulls into port to unload her treasure she gets an additional +2 to one piece (which, by the way, is the same ability that the Pirate Genny Gallows has).  You may not think that’s much, but load her up with some treasure specific crew and you’re well in business.  One might put a Bianco’s Hauler’s on board, which allows her to unload treasure as long as your ship is within 1S of your homeport.  I would also definitely load her with an Explorer and a Helmsman leaving you with 3 cargo slots, but also giving you S+S+L movement.  Don’t forget, she’s a schooner too, giving her that maximum maneuverability.

The nice thing about this ship is that she isn’t totally defenseless either.  Four cannons with a natural 50% ability to hit from S range isn’t anything to sneeze at.  She won’t make a good gunboat, but that wasn’t what she was designed for.

Uncommons in Pirates are worth anywhere between $1 and $3 depending on which ship it is, and what it’s ability is.  This one is well within that range, so there’s no auction review necessary.

My Ratings:

Playability 3 of 5

Collectability 2 of 5

A solid treasure hauler, though a tad pricey for what you get.

Next Time – The middle day is crew day, which one am I going to select this time?  With these initial COTD reviews we’re trying to look at crew that every faction has a copy of.  We’ll look at the 0 point Limit/Ransom character from the Spanish.  My she’s good looking too.

Yoyoboy67 La Santa Isabel Schooner. One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island. It’s Spanish week! And therefore, hidden translations in Spanish Today we have La Santa Isabel, a Spanish ship from Revolution. Points: 13 points. This is pretty much undercosted for the ship. Not extremely cheap, but still, the things this ship can do.. Point rating: 8/10. Cannons: 4 Cannons is good, but these aren’t very powerful cannons. All three are 3S. You’ll need to be pretty close to other ships to get a hit. The chances of rolling high enough for each ship is ½. So, if ALL your cannons are in range, expect 2 to hit. La Calificación del cañón: 6/10 Movement: S+L This is quite fast. In your typical 40 point game, this will get across the table pretty fast. Cargo: 6 Cargo! Personally, if I were using this, I would play 2 Crew and try to get to an island fast enough. 6 Cargo is enough to do almost anything Crew and Treasure wise. Cargo Rating: 9/10 ¡La carga: 6 Carga! Not only does it have Schooner, which will help in many situations, it also allows one treasure to be +2. This pretty much clears it up: this ship is meant to get treasure, and to get it fast. La Calificación de la habilidad: 7/10 This ship does what it is supposed to do, and it does it well. Total Rating (rounded): 4/5 ~Yoyoboy67~ Hate my reviews? Love them? The Great Fuzzball La Santa Isabela

Schooner. One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island.

With her gilded hull and polished cannons, La Santa Isabel is a throwback to the days when Spain ruled the seas. Now, she is reduced to trading between the colonies and Spain.

Cost 13 points very affordable 9/10

Cannons 3s, 3s, 3s, 3s, 3s pretty average 5/10

Masts 4(this means the ship has for health and hits) 4/5

Cargo 6 this means this ship can carry 6 treasures or crew or a mix of both very good 8/10

Movement S+L 10/10

Review (BTW this is my first review hope you like it)

This is the largest ship for the Spanish that is available in revolution.
The best part about this ship is the ability to multitask its cargo isn't the highest but it is really good for the ship, their is only two ships that can carry more cargo in the game (Darkhawk2 and
La Joya del sol). The cannons are pretty average in the game not extremely accurate but all the same not that bad. The reasons why this ship is one I would use in a game are its relatively small cost and its high cargo. The schooner ability gives turning on the bow at the end of a move action to get the cannons into the optimum range.
Another high point is its special ability this is like having a Genny Gallows built in. The only thing that sets this ship back is its cannons which have a small range. This ship will probably appear in a lot of average fleets.

My rating 3.5\5

Lord Fiend Good day to ye' all my name is Lord Fiend and I will begin to do COTD from time to time . I do my reviews quite simple by merely analyzing each of the ship's stats or the Crew's effect.

Name: La Santa Isabel
Type: Ship
Card Number: 040
Rarity: Uncommon

Point Value: 13
Let's see 13 points will be consumed if you pick this ship, I am a person who enjoys saving up resources for plenty of smaller ships instead of one BIG ship and most games are played with 30 points so its cost is pretty steep but might be worth it due to it's other stats...
Point Value Rating: 5/10

Mast: 4
This ship has an impressive 4 masts which are used for attacking, defense ,and movement. The number of attacks this ship could do will certainly do well in battle,as will the defense of this ship. The only way to bring this ship down is with 4 direct hits, which means this ship will stay in lay for quite a while.
Mast Rating: 9.5/10

Cannons: 3S (all of them)
I will start by saying this ship's cannons aren't the best. One reason is the fact that ALL of them have a short range, therefore you have to be too close for comfort to your opponent. Even if you manage to get close enough you'll have to roll higher than a 3,this means you'll only have a 50% chance of hitting an opposing vessel. Although these chances are blown away by the number of masts, which brings forth the
saying: "if you shoot in all directions you're bound to hit something"
Cannons Rating: 6/10

Move: S+L
Very impressive, a big ship with maneuverability. This ship can travel fast and it's simply a great choice for getting treasure. Nothing else to say, a fast ship is good.
Move Rating:10/10

Cargo: 6
The cargo that this ship can hold is immense depending on what type of game you're playing. This ship truly can go to an island and take all the treasure or a fair amount.
Cargo Rating: 9/10

Effect/Ability:
One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island.
This effect is useful if a treasure you picked up is of low value ,so therefore it may help you but possibly not all time.

Effect/Ability Rating: 9/10

TOTAL RATING: 8.something /10

Newbulous La Santa Isabel - #40 - Revolution

Schooner. One of this ship's treasures is worth +2 gold when unloaded at your home island.

Now this ship is all about maneuverability. Being a schooner and having both an L + S speed means that she will be hard to follow. Only having a cargo space of 6 is a little dismal for my likings on a treasure holler (7 or 8 is more worthy of a spot on my fleet). Having the effect of adding +2 gold can offset this balance, but you’re still assuming that that one or 2 gold that you would have picked up, will equal 2 points or less. With the way my metagame looks a lot of people use many high gold values coins and then lots of unique treasure. Having 4 masts is definitely nice in the defense department, but and this is a big but for me, having them all be 3 S is mediocre. Having at least the inner cannons be L range or having rolls of 2 would have been a lot better. I realize that the Spanish are built more around speed than power, but I’d rather use La Monarca (costing 5 less points) or El Montañez (costing 4 less) for maneuverability or El San Francisco or Cazador del
Pirata or La Joya del Sol for a treasure ship. This is my just personal opinion though as I’m not a huge fan of the Spanish and wish they had a ship a lot more like the DarkHawk II that has a nice mix of firepower and cargo space is nice.

Constructed 3.5/5, for a full Spanish Fleet, 2/5 for a mixed one
Limited/Sealed 4/5, anything that can act as a cargo ship is good here.
