“Decatur has the Intrepid’s crew in their dress

that the New World always means business”
I’m not all that fond of abilities
that tie into another crew member, such as this
particular ship has. In order to “unlock” that
ability, so-to-speak, you have to spend another 3
points on a Captain. If you add the obligatory
Helmsman, the Captain, and the linked crew Steven
Decatur, you’re looking at 12 points of build
already. That still gives you two cargo spots, but
this ship is designed to be an attack vessel, so it
really doesn’t give much wiggle room. As a
flagship, this bad boy leaves much to be desired.
As a secondary attacker it’s not that bad though,
pricey, but not that bad. And she compares
favorably to the other 4 masted schooners in the
game as well.
My Ratings:
Playability 3 of 5
Collectability 2 of 5
Next Time – American Crew-fer. One
will be someone I just mentioned. The other, you’ll
have to wait and see.

Intrepid
Welcome to American Barbary Coast week!
First up is the Intrepid, a 15-point 4-masted
Schooner. Oh yeah, and with a Captain, you get +1 to
your rolls. The cannons normally are one 2L and
three 3L. For 18 points (when you throw in the
Captain, because why would you play this without
one?), that is actually a pretty good deal. It's a
little pricy, but 1L/2L/2L/2L is hard to beat, and
it's a schooner to boot. I would have a hard time
justifying this in a 40-point build due to the
awkward cost, because this really isn't primary
gunship material. However, in higher point games I
would take a hard look at this guy.
