 WildWill

Pirates of the Revolution – Chesapeke #086

Name: Chesapeke

Set: POR

Card #s: #086

Rarity: Rare

Type: Ship

Cost: 7 Points

Masts: 1

Cannons: 2L

Cargo: 2

Movement: 1S +1L

Faction: American

Ability – “Schooner. Once per turn when this ship hits an enemy ship, also eliminate one crew from that ship.

Flavor Text – “Chesapeake’s crew of veteran privateers possess a letter of marque to fight for America. They have learned to gut enemy ships, leaving no survivors to reveal their role in the massacre.”

Ahh, the American one masters, sweet aren’t they?  This one is especially nice, since you CAN put a Helmsman and a Captain on board, or any other crew you like and beef her up.  She’s swift, and has a GREAT ability for the point cost, plus a 2L cannon?  Are you kidding me?  Dang, throw a Musketeer (or the American Marine on board for that matter when he is available) and you’ve got a silent but deadly killing machine.  So she’s not the Rover at 2 points, but she’s definitely worthy of being placed in your fleet as an interference running vessel, or heck, make a fleet of all one/two masters that zip around the game board killing and stealing treasure.

There aren’t enough completed auctions for this little guy to evaluate.  You shouldn’t really have to pay more than $3.00 for a 1 master, unless it’s Rover.

My Ratings

Playability 3 of 5

Collectability 3 of 5

Next week – part 2 of the sequel to “You Pick the COTD”.  And we’ll do something really special for September 19 – International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Until then, may the wind be at your backs me hearties.

Aethereal Chesapeake

Seven points is a lot for a one-master. If you're paying seven points
for just one mast, the ship had better have some good abilities backing
it up. Here you're getting a good movement speed in S+L, a nice 2-rank
L-range cannon, and a decent two cargo spaces with no drawback to
filling them all up. If you hit, you get to take out one of their crew
members. Like I said Wednesday, this is a good ability to have. The
problem I have here is that the Chesapeake pretty much becomes a
one-shooter due to its single mast. Unless you have backup for it,
it'll get slaughtered next turn and that'll be seven points down the
drain. Because of this, I don't particularly like this ship. Sure, the
Rover is good, but it also only costs two points. This costs seven,
which is awfully high for one mast and a good ability that you'll
probably only get to use a couple of times. The two cargo slots (with
no drawback to loading them with crew!) sure are nice to have, though,
as you can add some nice utility crew to this guy. I'll give the
Chesapeake the benefit of the doubt, but I don't see myself playing
with her too often.

Rating: 3/5

I M Einstein Chesapeke-Revolution-American-7pts.

Chesapeke is a rare from the revolution set with a base move of S + L and a cargo of 2.

The effect is pretty useless because it only has one mast(one hit makes it derilict).

Cargo: 2. average for a one masted ship. Not enough to be a treasure hunter or have any crew. 2.5/5

Cannons: 2L. Good for a 1 masted ship, but then again, One masted ships shouldn't be ship hunters. 2/5

Speed: S + L. Average for a 1 masted ship. Doesn't need a helmsman.

Overall a 2.5/5 Not a good ship in my opinion
