Flavor Text -
One of the few female capitans in the
Spanish fleet, Elisa Vega instructs the San Leandro
to feign innocence when dealing with other ships—and
then striking at the last instant.
The poor Spanish. Prior to this set
they had a whopping four different 1-masters to
choose from. Now, they have five. By comparison,
the Barbary Corsairs got SEVEN in one set, the Jade
Rebels got five in one set, the English now have
six, the French now have seven, and the Pirates have
a whopping 10. No WONDER Spanish fans are upset.
At least this ship seems to be the BEST of the
Spanish one-masters. She’s smack dab in the middle
of costs, there are two Spanish one-masters that are
cheaper, and two that are more expensive. She has
the best cargo hold at 3, and she’s got the best
cannon of all of them, and her ability is just as
good, if not better than the other 4 (she shares an
ability with the La Theresa). Add to that she’s a
speedy little ship, and you’ve got a heck of a
package.
Now, 10 points is more than I want to
pay for a 1 master, but I play Pirates most of the
time, and I’m spoiled. Also, take note that two of
the upcoming Les for tournament participation are
Spanish 1 masters.
There’s only 2 closed Ebay auctions
for this young lady, and they were both at a 99
cents. The average Ebay Store buy it now price was
about 4 bucks. Again, such a disparity in pricing
between the two different Ebay channels (auctions
and fixed price stores) means this ship has a
dubious collectible value at this point. If you get
it from a pack or for a buck you’re happy. If you
pay four bucks on Ebay, you’re sad. But if you sell
it for four bucks you’re happy again. Err…what was
I saying again? Oh yeah, so she’s worth between one
and four bucks, or just about the average amount for
any other one master. Go figure.
My Ratings:
Playability 3 of 5
Collectibility 3 of 5
Next week – So the Spanish did get
hosed, based on this week’s reviews. Does another
faction take a hit? Should WK stop introducing
factions in sets, and support the existing factions
(after all, there’s NINE now). Stay tuned!

I had a friend
use this ship against me the other day. At first
glance it didn't seem to be much of a threat,
and frankly its not, but I had a ship that only
had long range cannons. This little guy pinned
that ship and slowly whittled away at my three
master. If used effectively, as my friend used
it, this little guy can be quite good. Not
great, but good. It's good movement and descent
Cargo capacity make it an ok treasure hauler,
and its ability gives it some added protection.
No crew nessessary. If you wish to use her as my
friend did, throw a firepot specialist or a
chainshot specialist on it to make it a hazzard
against those large L-range ships. I give her a
3/5.
