Our
ship of the day is the USS Emerald, an LE
participation prize for Approved Play. For a mere 9
points, you get a stout little S+S speed runner,
with 2 masts bearing 2-rank short range cannons and
an fairly average 2 cargo slots. But what makes the
Emerald such a tiny force to be reckoned with is her
special wooden masts that require 2 hits to be
eliminated. As with any small ship, the Emerald is
best at sticking and moving rather than collecting
treasure... but with her hardy masts, I like to load
her up with a Captain and perhaps a Musketeer or
Marine and use her to race near a treasure island
and snipe at docking ships.
