Name: Le Bon Marin
Card: RV #059 (Rare)
Points: 6
Faction: France
Masts: 1 (rating: 1 / 5)
Cargo: 4 (rating: 3 / 5)
Moves: S+L (rating: 4 / 5)
Guns : 4S (rating: 1.5 / 5)
Hit %: 33 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: This ship may dock and explore a wild
island using the same move action.
Gold ships need speed, cargo, and a low price tag.
Le Bon Marin has all three, and then some. My
adversaries use her a lot. We sing, "Bon bon bon,
bon bon Marin" (to the tune of "Barbara Ann") when
she sets forth.
Explorers are one of the two crew a gold ship will
ever need (Helmsmen are the other). But you hate to
use up a cargo space for an Explorer; you want those
cargo spaces for gold! This ship takes care of that
little problem by having an Explorer built-in. Le
Bon Marin can skip across the waves, load up the
instant she touches a wild island, and race home
again. Only one other ship, USS Annapolis, can do
this, and the Annapolis is slower (but otherwise
identical).
You'd expect a six-point ship to be deficient in
some critical area. Le Bon Marin has no flaws,
except for her one bad cannon, and she wasn't built
to fight anyway. She was built to be one of the best
gold ships in the game, and that's exactly what she
is.

Le
Bon Marin
Le Bon Marin is a nice little ship. The single mast
is a liability but the good speed (S+L) and
excellent cargo (4) for her size are great bonuses.
A built in explorer is a fine ability on this
treasure runner. The cannon is below average, but if
you are shooting with Le Bon Marin she is already in
trouble. Le Bon Marin is built for treasure running
and I like the single mindedness of this little
ship. Le Bon Marin gets 4/5.
