Keyword: Sea Monster. Limit.
Ability: At the beginning of each of your turns,
choose any ability possessed by any ship or crew in
play; this character has that ability.
You may make a different choice each turn.
This dreadful creature was the first ability-stealer
in the game. This ability can be both deadly and
surprising, depending on which abilities you borrow.
On the boring end of the scale, you could use a
Captain's ability to move and shoot, a Helmsman for
speed, or a Musketeer for a sixth shot. But why stop
there? You could apply the original El Acorazado's
needs-two-hits ability to your tentacles, or the
double-hit power of HMS Leicester. One devious
person used an ability-canceller like Nemesio Diaz
to cancel his own monster's Sea Monster ability for
a turn or two, so he could repair it at his home
island. Use your imagination!
The downside is that Behemoth's own talents are
somewhat limited, especially for nineteen points.
Zero cargo, L move, and the Limit keyword are all
strikes against it. The cannon ratings are good,
unless the enemy has a can't-be-shot-in-S-range
ability.
All in all, this is one of the better sea monsters.
She's expensive, but flexibly powerful in a way few
other ships or monsters can match. I can see a
creative player having all kinds of fun with
Behemoth in his fleet. If he can afford it.
