Cadet-Captain Mike |
Name: Morgawr
Card: OE #027 (Uncommon)
Points: 14
Faction: Pirates
Masts: 4 (rating: 4 / 5)
Cargo: 0 (rating: 1 / 5)
Moves: L (rating: 2 / 5)
Guns : 3L,3S,3S,3S (rating: 3.5 / 5)
Hit %: 200 (S), 50 (L)
Keyword: Sea Monster.
Ability: You may give this sea monster a shoot
action to make one L range rank 3 breath attack
against a target ship (it may make no other
attacks). If it hits, the target’s controller
replaces one of her masts with a fire mast, per the
Firepot Specialist rules.
The sea monsters in Ocean's Edge are generally a
better lot than the first ones in Davy Jones' Curse;
with most of them, you get more value for somewhat
fewer points. Morgawr is an improved version of the
DJC monster, Tiamat. The older sea serpent is a hair
better here and there, but this one costs two points
less.
Is 14 points a fair price to pay for this critter?
Aside from the "cool factor" that comes with all sea
monsters, you get four masts' worth of damage
resistance and boarding power, plus the built-in
Firepot Specialist. You can't improve its poor speed
without special crew on other ships, but you should
expect that with most monsters. I say yes, the point
cost is not a bargain, but it's fair.
