Ability: After looking at treasure on a wild island,
you may trade any one treasure from that island for
a random treasure on any other wild island. This
ship must load the traded treasure.
With this ship, the Spanish fleet returns to its
roots as they were with the first few Pirates
releases - slow and focused on gold.
You couldn't pay me enough to use La Mezquita as a
fighter. She's all about treasure, with her big
cargo and treasure-swap ability. That's a shame,
because the biggest requirement for a gold ship is
speed, and this ship has all the speed of a slug
wading through molasses. Adding a Helmsman brings
her up to S+S, which is still too slow, but not
absurdly so. Too bad this also takes up one of your
cargo spaces and runs up her sail-away cost.
The proper use of a treasure-swapper would take
several paragraphs, so I won't bore you with details
here. Suffice to say that the Spanish fleet has
three other ships with this ability, and all are
either faster, less expensive, or both. It's hard to
recommend this one.
