Cadet-Captain Mike Name: USS Constitution
Card: OE #086 (Rare)
Points: 15
Faction: USA

Masts: 5 (rating: 5 / 5)
Cargo: 4 (rating: 3 / 5)
Moves: L (rating: 2 / 5)
Guns : 2S,2L,2L,2L,2S (rating: / 5)
Hit %: 335 (S), 201 (L)
Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against Pirate ships.

The Constitution was one of the most sought-after ships in the Revolution set, which was probably due more to American sentimentality than to her specs - five 3L cannons, requires two hits to remove one mast, for (gasp!) 22 points. How does the new Old Ironsides stack up?

Her speed and cargo are the same; her price has gone way down, and the accuracy of her guns has improved. She's no longer an unstoppable juggernaut; you'll have to use her offensively to get your money's worth. This is especially easy against Pirates, against whom the Constitution's hit rates become a crushing 416% at short range and 249% at long range. If you expect to face sea dragons, giant crabs, the original Revenant (which is strikingly similar to this ship), or other big nasties flying the Skull and Crossbones, this ship will get the job done with flying colors.

She obviously needs a Helmsman and a Captain, or a named crew who gives a move/shoot, like Jonathan Haraden (move/shoot and reroll) or Master CPO Charles Richard (move/shoot and boarding bonus). A world-hater like Brent Rice won't help against Pirates, since abilities don't stack, but he'll give his +1 bonus against any other faction. Consider one of the other generic crew as well - Cannoneer, Musketeer, or Shipwright. You can pile on the crew; this ship can take them and can use them well.

This is a fine fighting ship, a worthy successor to the "old"
Constitution. A little more speed would have been nice, but perfect ships are few and far between. This one will certainly make her mark, and her price is surprisingly reasonable for an American ship.

I don't like this ship. This is probably my least favorite ship of all-time. Of course, the only reason for that is because I'm a die-hard Pirate nation/faction collector. This is a great ship WITHOUT the ability, and with it, it becomes a monster. So let's look at this thing, top to bottom.
It has the most masts for a non-junk ship. That's always good. It has a typical 5-master move, a long. It has moderate cargo, nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible either. It's point cost is again mostly normal for a 5-master. It's cannons are far above average, and when it's fighting Pirate ships they become spectacular.
This ship can hit any ship, no matter the ability. I think this would be a good flagship for any good American fleet, my second choice behind the Blackwatch. This ship is an above-average ship with some fairly average stats. I give her above average marks.
