Here we have the typical American ship: slow,
above-average guns, an
ability that enhances combat, and a high price tag.
There are so many other USA ships that fall into
this category that it's
hard to think of something new to say about this
one. She'll make a good
second fighter if you can afford her, and the crew
she'll need (Helmsman
and Captain). Or you could buy the Julius Caesar for
the same point
cost, get a broadside attack instead of the L-cannon
immunity, and save
two points because she doesn't need a Helmsman. Or
you could spend one
more point and get the Jarvis, which is comparable
but faster, or the
new Constitution, which is by far the better ship.
This is the kind of ship you'll try using once, but
probably won't go
back to. If they took two points off her price,
she'd be a fair value,
but it seems that's not the American way.

USS
Georgetown
The USS Georgetown is a nice ship. Her ability;
”L-range cannons cannot hit this ship” is one of my
favourites. As a complement the USS Georgetown
carries a complement of three L range cannons (3L,
2L and 3L).
Her speed, cargo and masts are average. Still USS
Georgetown has enough room for some crew and would
make a good fighter right out of the pack. As with
other American ships she is a bit expensive for
regular games, I guess Wizkids re-evaluated the
ability. Pick your targets carefully and use a
bigger fighter to draw enemy ships away while you
fire at range with the USS Georgetown. As a slightly
expensive no-bones-about-it gunship I would give USS
Georgetown 3.5/5.
