Cadet-Captain Mike |
Name: Herr Fuchs
Card: MI #018 (Rare)
Points: 6
Faction: Mercenary
Link : Hephaestus
Keyword: Expatriate
Ability: This ship may move and shoot using the same
move action. Once per turn, one of this ship’s
cannons may shoot again if it misses.
Herr Fuchs is a combination Captain and Cannoneer.
He costs a point more than those two, but saves a
cargo space, so he's a fair deal. You definitely
want to put him on a fighting ship.
The Hephaestus, Fuchs' linked ship, is such a
fighter, with 2-rank cannons and a good ability. Too
bad she's so slow; the battle will be over by the
time she gets there. You want Fuchs in the thick of
the action, where he can use both his abilities in
almost every turn. That means a fast fighting ship.
As an Expatriate, Fuchs can serve on any ship, not
just the Mercs, so consider putting him on a speedy
French or Pirate ship when he goes out looking for
trouble.

Name: Nikos Chelios
Card: MI #021 (Common)
Points: 5
Faction: Mercenary
Link : Fathom
Keyword: Expatriate
Ability: Once per turn, this ship may randomly take
two treasure from any ship she touches.
"With shipping companies spread across the globe,
the richest man in Greece" sounds a lot like
Aristotle Onassis. His ability to double-rob an
enemy has no equal in any other ship or crew that I
know of.
To use him, you want a fast ship with room for lots
of treasure, preferably a Schooner so she can pivot
to touch the enemy ship without ramming and getting
pinned. Spain's La Santa Isabel would be a good
choice, and as an Expatriate, Chelios can serve on
her.
The Fathom, Chelios' linked ship, would not be a
very good choice. Her cargo is there, but her speed
is not, and since a Submarine can't touch an enemy
ship without surfacing and becoming vulnerable,
Chelios' ability would not get many chances to come
into play.
With a little luck, Nikos Chelios could pay for
himself in one cruise. But luck guarantees nothing;
he might spend the whole game chasing gold ships but
never catching them. I have to give him average
marks.
