Name: Sleipnir
Card: FN #014 (Common)
Points: 12
Faction: Vikings
Masts: 1 (rating: / 5)
Cargo: 3 (rating: / 5)
Moves: S+S (rating: / 5)
Guns : 2S x2 (rating: / 5)
Hit %: 134 (S), 0 (L)
Keyword: Longship
Ability: When this ship carries no cargo, she gets
+S to her base move.
Sleipnir was named for Odin's eight-legged horse.
This ship doesn't have eight of anything, but she
can certainly run. She's the only Viking ship that
can manage S+S+S speed, even if it is limited to
empty cargo holds. That means you have to look at
her as a possible gold ship.
3 cargo isn't overwhelming, but it's enough to bring
some loot home.
The only real objection is her point cost, which is
a bit high for what you get. But she's among the
less expensive Viking ships.
She's certainly no fighter. One mast won't stay up
in battle for long, even if it does shoot twice.
Like all longships, she gets +1 on boarding rolls,
but one-masted ships shouldn't do much boarding -
they always lose.
I'd use the Sleipner as a gold ship, with no crew.
I'd try to make at least two gold cruises, maybe
three, in the hope that she'd pay for herself. I
give her slightly above-average marks because she's
a bit above average compared to other Viking ships.
