against any non-Spanish ship.
This might be the best five-masted ship in the
Spanish navy. Her cannons are okay against other
Spaniards, or good against other factions (her hit
percentages jump to 335 at S range or 201 at L
range). Cargo and speed are below average, but a
Helmsman can fix the speed. She has to have a
Captain, or a named crew that gives a move/shoot;
I'd recommend Almirante Carlos Pavon y Miranda
(move/shoot and reroll) or Duque Alfonzo de Castilla
(move/shoot and kill crew with a hit).
Some recommended crew for the third cargo slot:
Joaquin Vega (ignore the first hit while intact),
Nemesio Diaz (canceller), or Padre Francisco (take
up no space, add a 2-point crew at will). You want
to put some good crew on this ship, because she can
use them effectively, and also because you can
afford them. 14 points is pretty good for a big
gunship, especially considering that the average
five-masted Spaniard costs 16 points.
This is a slightly above-average ship for a slightly
below-average price. I think La Tartessos will see a
lot of action in Spanish fleets.

Flavor text: Named for the first city founded on the
Iberian peninsula, La Tartessos is one of the last
symbols of Spanish pride still afloat.
Cruddy cargo, great ship. This is possibly the best
Spanish gunship out there, and on a point for point
basis, rivals the bigger, meaner gunships of other
nations out there. So, unless you're going against
Spain, for 14 points you get all rank 2 cannons.
That's pretty stinkin' good. Well, the cargo isn't
so good. You could throw on crew like Almirante
Carlos Pavon Y Miranda to save a cargo space, but
then you need a helmsman, and maybe a firepot and
then Capitan Alarico Castro. Sorry, I am biased for
anything that's Spanish. But seriously, this ship is
pretty good. It's pretty much what every aggressive
Spanish player needs in his/her fleet to be
competive with the likes of other nations. Of
course, though, La Tartessos will probably get
bashed in by the HMS Titan or something like that.
