Cadet-Captain Mike
Name: HMS Endeavour
Card: PotC #003 (Rare)
Points: 21
Faction: England
Masts: 5
Cargo: 4
Moves: L
Guns : 2L, 2L, 2L, 2L, 2L
Hit %: 333 (S), 333 (L)
Ability: This ship eliminates two masts with one
hit.
With this ship, without a doubt, the English now
possess the meanest fighting ship in the game.
Period.
Her hit percentages are as good as you'll find
anywhere, and each hit does double damage. Moves is
normal; cargo could be better, but you don't need
many crew to make this ship playable. Captain and
Helmsman will do the trick, or you could use Admiral
Norrington instead of the Captain to make her
cannons hit on anything but a 1. Does that scare
you? It should. This ship could dismast the Zeus
with one shoot action. Add Mercer for the Sac
ability, along with one or two cheap crew for him to
kill, and she could have two move/shoots in one
turn, a potential twenty masts' worth of damage. I
just don't want to think about that.
21 points is a lot, but compare her to the venerable
HMS Leicester - she costs but three points more, has
the same ability, has one more cannon, and they're
all 2-rank instead of 3-rank. Her only real weakness
is that she can't hit ships that are immune to L
cannons. She's also susceptible to the same threats
as all big ships - Broadside Attack, cancellers, and
Firepots. Support her with a smaller fighter with
some S cannons, and there's no reason why you can't
rule the seas from the Endeavour's quarterdeck. HMS
Titan now has competition for the title of "ultimate
English warship."
