Ability: This ship’s crew can’t be eliminated unless
she sinks.
A lot of people have waited a long time for this
ship to appear in this game. Bear in mind that there
may be as many as three different versions of the
major ships and crew in the upcoming Pirates of the
Caribbean release. This version of the Pearl is the
one they're showing us in a sneak peek. Did WizKids
get it right?
In a word, YES! I look at this ship's stats and it
gives me flashbacks to the days of Crimson Coast and
Revolution, when a ship could actually move fast,
shoot well, and carry a decent load of gold, all at
once.
Speed is excellent for a 4-masted ship, and about
right for this "battle damaged" Black Pearl. None of
the guns have L range; that's my only complaint. The
ability is a good one for a gunship, which will
often have expensive named crew on board, as well as
one or two generics.
Oddly, there's no link to Jack Sparrow, or anyone
else, for that matter.
Even if you've never seen the movies, you have to
admit that the Black Pearl is much better than the
typical Pirate ships we've been seeing in the past
few releases. She's a bit pricey for a gold ship;
fighting and boarding are more her style. Crew her
up and turn her loose!
