Ability: This ship may dock at an enemy home island
and load one treasure. If able, she must leave on
your next turn.
The Lady Provost is that rarest of creatures, an
English ship with big cargo and high speed. She's
certainly one of the best gold ships to fly the
White Ensign. Her only drawback is her somewhat high
cost.
She's also one of the few ships with enough speed to
pull off a home-island robbery. With only two masts,
she can't take much damage if she's caught stealing,
so either give her an armed escort or time it very
carefully. Even if you never try, just the knowledge
that you could do it will be a sword hanging over
your enemy's head. He won't dare leave his home
island totally unguarded, and that will keep his
fighting ships from going far afield; your own gold
ships will appreciate this.
With two 4-rank cannons, HMS Lady Provost was not
bred for battle, so don't waste a Captain on her. If
she needs any crew at all, it should be either an
Explorer or a Helmsman. I'd recommend the Explorer;
he'll probably get to explore two or three islands
on each cruise, saving you a turn every time he
scours the dunes. With or without crew, she should
spend all her time hunting treasure. The chance to
swipe someone else's treasure is icing on the cake.
