Flavor Text: HMS
Plantagenet is a small, mercurial ship able to sail
in shallow waters and up streams. This pirate hunter
is manned exclusively by men who have lost
everything to pirates.
Believe it or not, back
in the good ol' days when there was only PotSM, this
ship was actually used as a treasure runner for
England.
Again, when I say that
the English can't treasure run out of a paper bag, I
mean it. But I'm not just going to rate it on being
a treasure runner.
It's not hard to see
why this ship sees little use. It's outclassed by
the PotCC HMS Alexander, which has one more cargo,
and instead of getting +1 vs. Pirates, it gets +1
vs. French. Poor thing, this ship only had one
set...and even then, it wasn't used much.
Of course, Pirates are
the most popular faction, so this ship will probably
have rank 2 cannons against most fleets. But not all
fleets.
If you're expecting a
Pirate fleet, load this ship up with a Captain,
helmsman, and perhaps a Firepot specialist.
Although, it is 15 points.
S+L+S speed is good,
rank 2 cannon are good, and even if your ship
sinks next turn to the
Zeus, at least you got one of its masts on fire.
I don't know, this ship
is one of those ships that was outclassed way too
early in the game to have gotten a lot of use, so I
give this ship average marks: 3/5.
