Name: Saint James (England)
Card: FS #062 (Common)
Points: 10
Masts: 3
Cargo: 2
Moves: S+S
Guns : 3S,3S,3S
Hit %: 150 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: Galley. If this ship
shoots at a ship that was previously shot at by
another ship this turn, she gets +1 to her cannon
rolls against that ship this turn.
The Saint James won't win any
prizes for her looks. But she makes a fair fighting
ship for a fair price. The key word here is "fair."
There isn't a lot to say about
her, good or bad. Her cargo is on the skimpy side;
speed and guns are average. If she follows another
ship around and lets that other ship shoot first,
her cannons drop to 2-rank.
But HMS Nautilus already has
2-rank cannons, plus better speed and cargo and a
bonus against the Americans, for the same price tag.
There are a bunch of other English ships that also
give better value for ten points
-- the Dover, the Lord Walpole,
the Phoenix, the Henry VIII... you get the idea.
There are also ships out there
that are worse values for ten points. The Saint
James is neither awesome nor awful. If you don't
have those older ships in your collection, this one
may do good things for you. But you can certainly do
better.
