Points: 12

Cargo: 5

Ability: When touching a Pirate ship, this ship may
load as much of that ship's treasure as she can
carry.
Pirate-Robbers Week starts off with a fine Spanish
ship from the very first Pirates release. "The
Eagle" seemingly has it all.
Seriously, who wouldn't want five cargo and four
fighting cannons for only 12 points? Even if you
give her a combat crew of Captain and Helmsman, she
still has plenty of room for stolen Pirate gold, or
wild-island gold, or anything she can steal by
boarding from anybody.
Her only drawback is her speed, which the Helmsman
can set right.
There's also the problem that her ability won't see
much use, since an enemy with any brains at all will
keep a his gold ships far away from this four-masted
fighter, with a fighter of his own between them.
This problem affects all the ships we're looking at
this week.
That's a minor detail for a good ship like this,
though. L'Aguila can fight, board, and/or run gold
at will, for a very fair price. Her marks are mostly
above-average.
We've got a week of stealing gold from Pirates this
week. It's an old ability that's been around since
the first set, as the first ship this week shows.
The L'Aguila is a Spanish four-master from the
original Spanish Main set.
Cargo Space: 5 space is a lot of room for cargo and
very good for a ship that specializes in stealing
gold from Pirates. It has room enough for a crew or
two and still get a decent supply of gold.
Masts: L'Aguila has four masts with a good, but
unusual, assortment of
weapons: two 3S and two 2L. In later sets, the
L-range guns on ships like this are higher-ranked
than the S-range guns. Four masts is a good size for
countering enemy boarding attempts should they not
like you stealing their gold.
Base Move: A single L isn't very fast considering
you need speed to catch enemy gold ships.
Point Value: For 12 points you get a decent fighter
that's supposed to chase down Pirates for their
gold. It's a good value, but it'd be better if she
had better speed.
