Cadet-Captain Mike
Name: HMS London (England)
Card: CC #034 (Uncommon)
Points: 11
Masts: 4
Cargo: 4
Moves: S+S
Guns : 2S,2L,2L,2S
Hit %: 267 (S), 133 (L)
Ability: When touching a Pirate ship, this ship may
load as much of that ship's treasure as she can
carry.
If yesterday's ship, L'Aguila, was a good ship, HMS
London is a great one. She's faster, her cannons are
better, and she costs less. You lose a cargo space,
but if you can live with her base move, you can skip
the Helmsman and you'll break even on cargo.
Her ability probably won't see much action, but who
cares? The London is a fighter, with as good a set
of guns as you'll ever find on a four-master.
Because she costs so little, you can probably afford
to put an above-average fighting crew on her. One
fun combo would be Hermione Gold (OE) for a
move/shoot and blazing speed, Lt. Henry Ducie Chads
for a SAT and a bonus against Pirates, Commodore
Rhys Griffin Owen for a reroll that takes up no
cargo spaces, and an Oarsman to be a meat shield in
case a crew-killer ship tries to take out your
valuable crewpersons.
You've still got two cargo free in case you get the
drop on a Pirate gold ship, and you've got a very
nasty fighter against any foe.
Add the HMS London to the short list of ships that
are seriously underpriced for what you get. She
follows in the Royal Navy's tradition of excellent
fighting ships.
