Needle (Cursed, 10 Points)

S
Cannons: 3L, 3L
Ability: If this ship ends her
turn in a fog bank, on her next turn she can use
her move action to move out of any other fog
bank in play.
Oof. This is another example of
the 5 worst ships in the set. It's 10 points for
below average, well, everything. The only
promising thing about this ship is the ability,
but trust me, I have it, and i was forced to use
it in a tournament; it's not playable.
I supposed
that you could put a helmsman on it so that it
could Fog Bank-hop, but then you have a
12-point... well, nothing really. It has no way
to do anything in the game until you put the
generic Captain/Helmsman on there, and even then
it's 15 points for merely adequate stats.
The only
thing i like about this ship is the ability. I
would give it the worst marks, but after
reviewing the Weasel yesterday, this ship gets a
bit of a "curve".

Hi
everyone, today we continue RotF "Slowest of the
Slow" week, with an obvious Cursed ships. Because
most Cursed ships are slow. They make La Manila seem
normal and playable, that's how bad most Cursed
ships are. Onto the ship, though.
Needle, 10 points, Cursed.
Masts: 2
Cargo: 2
Speed: S
Cannons: 3L 3L
Abilities:If this ship ends her turn in a fog bank,
on her next turn she can use her move action to move
out of any other fog bank in play.
Flavor Text: The Needle seems to appear and
disappear like a specter into the fog. Sailors
throughout the seas fear that she is nothing less
than a nightmare come to the waking world.
The nice thing about some ships in RotF is that,
even though they have crud speed, they have
something else that makes for it, with the exception
of the Weasel from yesterday. This one can fog-hop,
which is an ability that I don't think has been seen
except for in DJC. This is a rather cool and nifty
ability, which allows one to move from literally,
one part of the board to another part of the board.
Very cool.
The good thing is that speed doesn't matter as much
anymore, since you can jump all around, provided
that there is fog banks aplenty.
So, here's a recommendation if you're using this
ship:
Get something like the Banshee's Cry, and find the
UT 'Lost!'. It reads, "Roll a d6. Place a number of
terrain pieces from outside the game on the play
area equal to the die roll result. All terrain must
be placed at least S from any other terrain or
island. Terrain may be placed under ships, sea
monsters and titans."
This is really good, because if you roll at least a
2, place two fog banks, one under the Needle, and
one anywhere else, preferably near a big stinking
gunship.
Also, you should give this ship a Firepot
Specialist. The Needle may not last long, but the
enemy will now be saddled with a firemast.
Which is never good.
