Way back in the days of Crimson Coast, when the
average ship's speed was
S+L, a fine Pirate ship took to the seas, all but
unnoticed. The Raven
has all the makings of a first-class gold ship, yet
I never hear of anyone playing her. This strikes me
as odd.
Her speed is the very best, her cargo is good, and
her price is not unreasonable. Her cannons are good
enough to make her a secondary fighter if you
prefer. Her ability is handy if she rams something.
But gold ships aren't supposed to ram things, are
they?
My plan for this little ship is to send her out on a
fast cruise to fill her holds. On her return, she'll
pick up a Captain and head for more gold. If an
enemy secondary fighter harasses her, she'll ram,
then fire her cannons to finish off the brute,
before continuing on her way for gold. If the enemy
leaves her in peace, she still has three cargo
spaces free for treasure. Either way, that enemy
will never overlook the Raven again!
I’m impressed with this little ship. It’s got the
best built-in speed you can get (S+S+S), decent
cannons (two short-2s), and amazing cargo space (4)!
For ten points you could get some bigger boats with
more specialized roles, but this boat is great at
fighting and gold-running. With a captain, you could
scoot this boat up to almost anything and get a
couple of good shots off. The schooner keyword would
also let you point it in the opposite direction for
a quick getaway.
I’d give it a 4 because while it’s a great,
versatile ship, it’s kept from being a brawler and a
boarder by its mere two masts.

This is my first review on the Pojo CotD crew, so
please forgive me for any mistakes.
Ah, the Raven. The Raven is a feisty little two
master, yes indeed. At two masts she's easily gunned
down, but that should be no worry due to her speed
and her guns. With two short range twos, the Raven
can reasonably fend off oncoming ships, if not go on
the attack itself. But she shouldn't have to fend
off oncoming ships, nor should she need to go on the
attack herself. There's the catch to this brute. She
possesses S+S+S speed, the best of the best. With
her cargo capacity sitting at an enormous size of
four (for a two master), the Raven can bring home
the treasure in the blink of an eye, and then go
back for more. As said earlier, if she is approached
by an enemy ship, she has the choice to either fight
back, or just simply dart off to safety. Her ability
also works into her agile versatility and nimble
ways, because now she can rotate (on her stern) in
any direction, which is yet another way for a quick
escape. Finally, when ramming, she cannot be pinned
on the following turn, thus demonstrating another
aspect of her energy and lithe components. All in
all, the Raven is one of the best two masters, and
she displays numerous features of agility, strength,
and treasure running.
