Templar
Nothing wrong with the British Fire-and-Steel
listings, so let's take a look.
The Templar has a new and interesting ability that,
if used correctly, can have some interesting
results. When the Templar gets a 6 on a cannon roll,
it can remove two masts. When it rolls a 1, it loses
a mast. As a bonus however, the WizKids FAQ states
that a World Hater will make it so a roll of 5 will
also activate this effect, though you still have to
remove a mast for each 1 you roll. It's a neat
ability if you like to gamble a little.
With that ability, the Templar's role is clearly
defined: support fighter. The Templar doesn't have
the size to be a front-line ship in a normal game.
Her guns are both 3Ls, so she's not bad at shooting
either.
Her fighter role is further defined by her poor
cargo capacity: only two spaces. Fill her up with a
captain (a world-hater might be too expensive so
keep it generic) and whatever support crew you might
like. A helmsman would be a good choice since the
Templar has a base move of L, not as bad for a
fighter. No need for an Oarsman though as she is a
Galley.
The Templar makes a good backup fighter at 9 points.
Give her a world-hate if you think you can spare the
points, but she's fine without one.
