Freedom's Hand
Here's another Pirate fallen victim to the card
gallery madness.
The Freedom's Hand is one of those boats that are
thought of as snipers as it has the ability where it
can double the range of its cannons but must roll a
6 to hit. She's a Galley though, which means she has
to be turned at an odd angle in order to use both
her cannons on a single target. Her cannons are also
both S-range, so you still have to get somewhat
close to an enemy to hit. Under normal combat
circumstances, her 2S cannons would be great, but
they're less-than-great as snipers. A world-hater
like Captain Barbossa would make her sniper cannons
hit on a 5 or a 6 though.
If the Freedom's Hand gets into trouble though, it
has a great base move, S+L, so it can escape trouble
easily, especially if you put a helmsman aboard. A
helmsman and a captain would fill both her cargo
spaces though. As mentioned before, Freedom's Hand
is a Galley so an oarsman wouldn't be necessary.
The Freedom's Hand only costs 8 points, so you'll
have to be careful about what crew you put on. A
world-hater/captain might be good for pumping up
your sniper cannons, but you wouldn't be able to put
any more useful crew on. With a good speed and low
endurance though, you might not want to put any more
crew on.
