Here we have a pretty good Cursed fighting ship, and
they need all the fighting help they can get. Post a
Captain and Helmsman on her, and her three good
cannons can do some real damage. Unfortunately, two
crew is all the Crushed Skull can carry, and that's
a real drawback. It also takes her out of contention
as a boarder or a gold ship.
The Ghost Ship ability isn't much help in battle,
since a ship can get shot whether it's Ghostly or
not. The ability probably adds 3-4 points to her
cost, and seeing as how it doesn't add to combat,
it's kind of a waste. But you may be glad you've got
it if your enemy chases you with sea monsters or
submarines, since you can pick and choose when you
can and can't be boarded. If you get damaged and
need repairs, the ability to pass through islands
and other ships on the way home can be awfully
useful, too.
The Crushed Skull is almost good looking for a
Cursed ship. She's also effective in battle. If only
she cost less, or carried more crew, I'd give her
much better marks.
I guess this boat is supposed to be a fighter since
it doesn't carry much gold (only two spaces) and
only moves L. Its got a good mix of cannons (two 2S
and one 2L) though. Her power is the Ghost Ship
keyword, which is like the "avoid all terrain"
ability, except with the added bonus of being able
to move through islands and other boats as well as
well as immunity to pinning and ramming. She's
fairly expensive though at 14 points.
All around, she's a good ship but she's a little
pricey.
