Cadet-Captain Mike

Name: Hellfire (Cursed)

Card: DJ #011 (Uncommon)

Points: 12

Masts: 4

Cargo: 2

Moves: L

Guns : 3L,3L,3L,4L

Hit %: 183 (S), 183 (L)

Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against any non-Cursed ship.

When you look at Cursed ships, you'll usually find that either the cannons stink or the price is too high, or both. I think I found an exception here.

The Hellfire carries three fair cannons and one poor one, which means she fires three good ones and one fair one against most opponents, at a 250% hit rate. Her small cargo, and the paucity of Cursed combo crew, means that a Captain and a Helmsman is about the best she can do, unless you'd rather captain her with the DJC Sammy the Skull, who adds a boarding bonus.

The small cargo means that fighting, and the occasional board to slay enemy crew, is the Hellfire's best role. With her cannon bonus, she's quite good at it, and you won't pay through the nose to get her. She ought to be a popular choice among Cursed admirals.

Goldship rating: 2.1 / 5

Gun Ship rating: 3.5 / 5

Boarding rating: 2.7 / 5

Value for points: 3.1 / 5

Draco Starcloud Hellfire

Like most other Cursed four-mast ships, the Hellfire is a good fighting ship. She's already a good fighter with three 3L cannons and a 4L cannon, and her cannons become great against non-Cursed ships. Like yesterday's ship, the Hellfire only has two cargo spaces and a base move of "L".

The Hellfire's a good gunboat, but she has a weakness to boats with L-range immunity. Again a captain and a helmsman are all you'll need, but with a four-mast ship you could put some named crew aboard.

I give the Hellfire a 4/5.
