Cadet-Captain Mike |
Name: Sickle (Cursed)
Card: FS #053 (Uncommon)
Points: 21
Masts: 4
Cargo: 3
Moves: L
Guns : 3S,3S,3S,3S
Hit %: 200 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: Switchblade. This ship
gets +1 to her cannon rolls against targets without
all their masts.
Behold, the most expensive Cursed
ship on the books (except for the super-rare Skin
Flayer, for the same price). As soon as you cross
the 20-point mark, you're begging for serious
criticism; the question has to be asked, "Are you
getting fair value for all those points?"
The Sickle gives you four masts
with adequate cannons, which become good if you pick
on damaged ships. Of course, her own cannons can
supply the damage; score a hit with your first shot
and your other three shots become 2S. The
Switchblades give you quite an edge (pun intended)
in close-quarters combat. Speed isn't great, but
it's typical. My big complaint with this ship is its
relatively small cargo. A 21-point ship should be
crawling with crew, but 3 cargo doesn't allow much
crawling. A Helmsman is a must-have. I'd add the
Sammy the Skull who gives a move/shoot and +1 on
boarding rolls, and the El Phantasma who gives
Eternal, Fear, and a SAT. Now you're ready to hack
some pieces out of the living!
The real question is, "Is she
worth it?" She's a decent fighter and a fine boarder
wrapped up in one. The Skin Flayer is a better
value, but the Sickle isn't too bad. We've certainly
seen worse! Definitely give her a try.
