Cadet-Captain Mike
Name: Shamrock (Pirates)
Card: MI #037 (Common)
Points: 8
Masts: 2
Cargo: 3
Moves: S+L
Guns : 4S,4L
Hit %: 67 (S), 33 (L)
Ability: After looking at treasure on a wild island,
you may trade any one treasure from that island for
a random treasure on any other wild island. This
ship must load the traded treasure.
The Shamrock is a lot like the Pawtucket that we
reviewed yesterday. But she's a far better value.
On the plus side, she's faster and costs a lot less.
On the other hand, she has one fewer cargo space. On
the other hand, she doesn't need to use a space for
a Helmsman. On the other hand, her poor cannons rule
out a fighting role. On the other hand, eight points
is fine for a gold ship that doesn't have to fight.
On the other hand... I think I ran out of hands, and
most of those hands say the Shamrock is a fine
little ship.
She needs no crew, although if you want to put
Gentleman Jocard (free cargo space) on her, he will
probably prove useful. This is one of those
increasingly-rare ships that need no excuses or
special tactics, just a stretch of open ocean with a
pot of gold at the other end. Hmmm...
Shamrock... pot of gold... could this be a
leprechaun ship? Whatever.
This is a good gold ship for a very good price.
