La Reso is one of many ships that got re-imagined in
a later release of Pirates. This ship's "newer"
version came out in OE, a few years later, and is
one of the finest gunships in the game. That "new"
year's Resolucion blows this one away.
Not that there's anything wrong with this one. She
has good cannons and cargo for a fair price; you can
trick her out with fighting crew, or just add a
Helmsman for gold-running and the ramming/boarding
game that lets you use her ability. If you think
you'll do much boarding, you might want to add a
Musketeer, so you can get off two shots instead of
one while you're pinned. I'd use her as a fighter,
and ram and board if the chance arose.
La Resolucion is a solid, reliable, unexceptional
ship. That means she isn't a game-breaker, and she
isn't a honey barge. She won't be anyone's flagship,
but she can add value to any Spanish fleet. If you
own her, she deserves at least one chance to prove
her worth.
