When Pirates first came out, the Revenant was one of
the baddest ships the Pirate faction had. In spite
of all the ships that have joined the game since
then, I can say that she's aged gracefully, and is
still a tough customer.
Her speed and cargo are typical for five-masted
brutes. Her guns are excellent, and her ability to
shoot through other ships serves as a "force
multiplier." I never appreciated this ability until
I found my ships tied up in a seagoing traffic jam,
unable to maneuver and unable to draw a bead on my
intended targets. The Revenant can just aim and
shoot, even using another ship for cover. One
possible drawback is that her S-range guns often
won't reach far enough to take advantage of this
ability. Her cost is high for a Pirate, but not
unreasonable. I'd load her up with all the fighting
crew she can carry, and take the fight to the enemy.
According to folklore, a revenant is a corpse that
comes back from the dead. If this ship came out
today, her name would probably make her one of the
Cursed. As it is, the Pirates can be glad she's on
their side.
The Revenant is a solid warrior and a worthy
flagship for your fleet.
