This is the original Santa Ana, which is a gold
ship. The revised Santa Ana, which came out in the
South China Seas release, has much better cannons
and a second action; she's my favorite Spanish
flagship. It's too bad the rules won't let you use
both in the same fleet.
When a ship has both speed and cargo, gold is her
logical role. This ship can move adequately, and her
cargo is enough for multiple wild islands in one
cruise. If you added a Helmsman, she'd still have
plenty of room, and her speed would be nothing short
of awesome. Her cannons are more decorative than
useful, unless a French ship presents itself as a
target, but four masts make a gold ship hard to
sink. Her point cost is very reasonable.
La Santa Ana isn't a fighting ship, in spite of
her four masts; she's a getter of gold. And she is a
very, very good getter of gold. She isn't quite as
good as the other Spanish four-masted gold ship, La
Santa Isabel, but she's cheaper. She'll make you
rich if you give her the chance.
