Cadet-Captain Mike
Name: Rolling Fog (Event)
Card: SC #071b (Common)
Points: 1
Ability: Reveal this event at the beginning of one
of your turns and place its token on a fog bank: At
the beginning of each of your turns, roll one d6 and
move the fog bank 1S in the direction that matches
the die result.
Yesterday's event, Mermaids, made me want to call
"broken." Today's event, Rolling Fog, makes me want
to call "Why?"
If you could control which way the fog rolled, this
could be a handy event. But it's random, so whatever
you hope to accomplish by moving the fog around is a
matter of luck. Whether you want to bring fog closer
to your home island so your fog-skipping ship (the
Cursed have six of
these) can make better time, or push the fog closer
to your enemy's home island to get in his way, or
just get a badly-placed fog bank out of your way,
you have no control over where it goes. Maybe it
will go where you want it to go; more likely, it
won't. There are six possible directions a fog bank
can move, so even at best, you're facing four-in-six
odds that it won't move in a direction that pleases
you. And even if it goes where you want it on every
turn, its S move won't get it very far very fast.
For only one point, it's not a huge loss if your
plan doesn't work out.
But the random factor makes it pretty close to
useless.

Rolling Fog
This Event is only good if you play with Fog Banks,
and even then it's not a hugely useful weapon unless
you have a high opinion of Fog Banks. You can't even
control where the fog moves unless you are extremely
skilled at rolling. Though Rolling Fog only costs
one point, I'm sure you can find better uses for
that point.
