Cadet-Captain Mike
Name: Hidden Cove (Event)
Card: SC #057b (Common)
Points: 2
Ability: Reveal this event at the beginning of one
of your turns: As a free action, dock one of your
ships at the nearest unexplored wild island or the
nearest wild island with no treasure on it.
Mike likes this one! Hidden Cove gives one of your
ships a free ride to the nearest island whose
contents you don't know.
Usually, this event gets played on a gold ship after
the nearest islands have been explored. You just
pick up your ship and set it down next to a more
remote island, which you proceed to pillage long
before the enemy can get to it. But it can also be
used to get a powerful but slow gunship into
position in a hurry, or to snatch a damaged ship out
of danger. You could even use it on a derelict,
bringing it halfway home so you can keep it out of
enemy hands.
This is a flexible event, and it's not costly. Those
are things I always like about a ship, and I like
those things in this event, too.

Hidden Cove
Do you have a ship with high cargo but terrible
speed? Do you really need to get the nearest wild
island in a hurry? Wouldn't it be great if your ship
suddenly had an island between it and its attackers?
Hidden Cove may be the event for you. For two
points, you get to move any one of your ships at the
nearest unexplored wild island of nearest wild
island with no gold at it. For two points, Hidden
Cove played at the start of a game could have your
best gold ship already loading treasure after just
one turn! You could also use it to move one of your
ships quickly away from enemy boats.
The downsides are that you can only use it once and
it wouldn't work if you've somehow explored all the
islands without taking all the gold. Don't know how
that would happen, but oh well.
