Many, many moons ago, I reviewed a ship very similar
to this one, the American Dark Fox. My comments on
that ship could be cut and pasted into this review,
starting with the words "Now this ship is just plain
awful."
Her cargo is too small for gold, her cannon is too
useless for fighting, and her one mast makes her
pretty useless as a boarder. Her intended mission is
to zip around the battlefield and spread Fear, which
will do nothing 2/3 of the time. A crew with the
Reroll ability would help here, but the Cursed don't
have any. The only other thing she might do is to
carry the Sargasso Nightmare around, so he can give
sea monsters a speed boost. The Nightmare and a
Helmsman could do this just as effectively for three
points less, and pick up a little gold on the side.
If you have the Samedi's Curse in your collection,
don't curse your fleet by using her in battle. She
has one other useful role: trade bait. Aside from
that, put her in a box and leave her there.
UGH UGH UGH. From the first look, I've hated this
boat.
Powers: All Samedi's Curse has is the Fear keyword,
so you've got a 1/3 chance of having any effect at
all.
Cargo Space: You can barely get worse than one cargo
space. To my knowledge, only another Cursed boat has
fewer cargo.
Masts: A single 5L cannon is all you have to defend
Samedi's Curse with.
Base Move: The one good trait the Samedi's Curse has
is her L+L speed. What you can do with that speed is
a very good question.
Point Value: Even at 9 points, this ship is heavily
over-priced.
Even with its L+L speed, there is no useful purpose
for the Samedi's Curse. It can't carry enough cargo
for gold-running, it can't fight, and its got a lame
power. Only Cursed boats are this bad.
