Slarg Gubbit was one of the first sea monsters to
appear in pirates'
waters. It's a fairly good one.
Speed is average, which means a bit better than the
average sea monster.
Cargo is huge, seeing how it can't use crew.
"Cannons" are a bit below average, but good enough
at close range, which is where most sea-monster
"gunnery" will take place. The Fear ability is fun
when it works, but
2/3 of the time, it doesn't. So this monster will
mostly do what monsters do best: roam around
underwater, find a weak or isolated target, then
surface and either ram and board, or "shoot" (lash
with its tentacles). It can try to cause Fear in
enemy ships while submerged, but it will find its
best use in preying on the weak.
This oddly-named squid is a bit on the expensive
side, considering its slightly sub-average guns and
ability. But it isn't a terrible value, like some
sea monsters (Lusca and He'e come to mind), and you
probably won't be sorry if you use it, provided you
use it properly. It isn't a five-masted fighting
ship, so don't try to use it like one. Ram! Board!
Kill!
