Name: Le Solitaire (France)

Points: 17

Cargo: 1
Moves: L
Guns : 5L
Hit %: 17 (S), 0 (L)

to their cannon rolls.
Behold, the #1 contender for the title of Worst Ship
in the Game!
This ship has speed that's close to rock bottom. She
has the worst cargo a ship can have without going to
zero. She has one horrible cannon. And all this goes
for a price tag that could buy you Le Soleil Royal,
a Captain, and half a Helmsman. Or you could buy a
top-rated gold squadron
-- Le Bon Marin, Le Pique, and L'Intrepide -- with
one point left over.
Heck, for seventeen points, you could buy just about
anything and it would be a better value than this
waste of plastic. Even if you tried to use her to
support other ships, she'd need a Helmsman to keep
up with them, and now you've spent almost half the
points of a standard 40-point game on a ship that
can't shoot, can't board, and can't run gold.
What's surprising about this miserable ship is that
she's French, and French ships tend to be very
cost-effective. But not this one.
"Solitaire" means "alone," and that's a good name
for this ship. Leave it alone.
Friendly ships within S of this ship get +1 to their
cannon rolls.
Le Solitaire is a terrible ship with a dreadful cost. I
can’t imagine why anyone would want it for fighting
reasons. You could get the 3-Masted USS Springfield
for one-point extra, plus it can fight better than
this ship can. It moves a crummy L, one of the worst
speeds I have seen this week. Even with a Cargo
Master what are you going to do? It can hardly shoot
and is worth 17 points, and with 17 points you can
use large 5-masted ships like Le Soleil Royal or
even the HMS Swallow. Also, if you use this with
other ships, guess who’s going to get sunk first? Le
Solitaire—that’s who—and if you’re going to use her
for fighting purposes, I can prescribe far better
ships then this ship.

Le
Solitaire
This ship's name is very ironic considering what
role she's supposed to play in your fleet.
Powers: All friendly ships within "S" of her get +1
to their cannon rolls. A big help for your ships
indeed, but if you try and pump up more than one
ship at a time, you'll have really tight formations
that probably can't engage more than one enemy.
Cargo Space: 1 cargo space. Fill it with a crew that
fits your fleet's style.
Masts: One mast with a 5L cannon, which is bad, but
then again you don't pick Le Solitaire so that she
can do her own fighting.
Base Move: Most one-mast ships have better, but Le
Solitaire's "L" is pretty ideal for keeping pace
with your gunships.
Point Value: For 17 points, you could get a small
fleet of boats that already have good guns. Le
Solitaire has a limited combat role that, while
useful, should only be picked if you're playing huge
games. Even in a 100 point game though, she's using
almost a fifth of your points.
